Abe's Quilt

I made this quilt for a darling little boy named Abraham. The embroidered birds were done by my great grandmother many years ago. Abe (and his parents) came to visit Philadelphia this fall, so I got to meet this delightful boy!

Another great performance

On Sunday, December 9, I went to the final performance of "Scandalous" on Broadway, starring my friend, Carolee Carmello. She was unbelievable - on stage for all but 11 minutes of the show! It's too bad that ticket sales weren't enough to keep the show going any longer. Reviews were so-so, but Carolee got raves---reason enough to see the show. I'm so happy for her that she got to originate a starring role on Broadway. Lots of predictions that she will get a Tony nomination which would be well-deserved!

Ida

Here is a doll I made for my friend, Peter.  He named her Ida after a character in the musical "Honk!" which tells the story of the Ugly Duckling. Peter is playing dual roles in the show, now at City Theater in Biddeford, Maine. If you are anywhere near there, it looks like a great production and lots of fun, especially for children.

Someone is getting this for Christmas...

This is my latest doll.  She was commissioned to be given to someone for Christmas. I'm hoping to keep her a little longer, just to enjoy her company!

Last week I visited friends in Buffalo, NY and had a really nice time. This is their cat, Binky.  Isn't she beautiful!

This is one of the dolls I am going to take to the All Dolls Are Art event in Austin, Texas at the end of the month.  Still working on a few more...

Hoffman Challenge 2012

Just finished my Hoffman Challenge doll for 2012.  It was truly a challenge because the fabric was far from anything I would have chosen!  But I am very happy with the result - "Miss Greanjeans."

Marionette

I went to a class at the John C. Campbell Folkschool in June to learn to make a marionette.  This is Greta, made in the class taught by Leslie Molen.  Had a great time with fun classmates and a great teacher!

ADAA Conference

In July, I'm going to the ADAA (All Dolls Are Art) Conference in Austin, Texas. Here are a few pictures of the pin dolls I made to share and the doll I made to contribute to the charity that benefits from the conference - the Austin Children's Shelter.

Mother Superior

My friend, Carolee Carmello is in the Broadway show "Sister Act" playing the Mother Superior, so I decided to make her a doll.  We went to see the show last month and I gave her the doll then. The show was a lot of fun, and Carolee was great, as usual!

Just a head!

I took an online class taught by Anjela Jarecki (the best online teacher ever!) focusing on making an Asian face. This face didn't turn out very Asian, but it was fun to make. I'll have to keep working on my ethnic faces.
